Hidden Gems

Yes, what a great week it was for me. I want to reflect on the things that I have done that helped me to level up in my personal growth and development. Not only did my inner being found a deeper blissfulness, but I developed a different skill set to help me in my business endeavors. I want to share it with you in hopes that you can take something away from it and apply it to your daily life.

So where to begin...how about I start off by acknowledging that there is information out there in the World Wide Web available to help a person in his or her personal development. For instance, there are Podcasts, blog articles, and self-help columns that give free information to help a person in their growth and business endeavors. The information that is shared online is there, but a person must do research to find it. Often times the media will promote other types of blogs and podcast that will bury the ones that have valuable information in it. You just have to do some research and find the ones that you can connect to. That's what I did.

So these self-help podcasts and blogs that I find extremely helpful are amazing and I can usually connect or apply it to my daily life, generally speaking. I decided not to share any of the ones I listen to and I decided that with good intentions. Here is my reasoning of not to share it:

  1. If I did share it, i would be me forcing something upon you that you may not find helpful

  2. It would take away the developmental skills that would be learned on conducting your own research.

  3. There is something about discovering new valuable content that allows a person to feel empowered.

  4. Only you know what specific content is good for you in your specific time.

It may seem kind of crazy, selfish, or even shallow not to share the information I have researched with you, but I promise I have only good intentions. There is something about learning something on your own and having that sense of accomplishment that leads to the "ahh" moment that is very liberating. Those "ahh" moments will lead to greater discovery and give you the skills set that would be typically lost if I handed the information to you.

If for some reason you cannot find anything, send me an email music@rootedkingdom.com and I will point you in the right direction.

Some of the things i have learned over the past few months that led me to having an amazing week was investing in me and my development. I spent some money and time (time is an important thing, because time cannot be taken back so make the best of it) in learning new skills. This investment was in mentors and conferences. The last conference I went to was related to a Myers-Briggs Personality Test. This was very insightful and it was super informative. I recommend this test and taking it. It basically tells the person what his or her personality type is and delivers a plethora of information. So here is the kicker to this test. You need to have someone explain the report to you. There are experts out there that can interpret it for you. If you don't invest in this interpretation you can miss information that is pertinent in your development.

The facilitator we had for this conference is the CEO of iBridged, Mr Jeff Harnois. He was great and very thorough. I honestly did not know this type of thing existed until the moment I attended the conference. With that being said, be sure to sign up for conferences or developmental courses even if you have to pay for it. Although the conference I attended was free, [paid for by the Bay Area Chapter, University of Phoenix Alumni Association so a big "THANK YOU" to them for gifting me with this valuable information], I would have been happy to pay $200 or more to attend it. I just threw out a random number, I honestly do not know how much the course would have costed.

The Meyers-Briggs Personality Test is pretty accurate; When I saw my results and had it explained to me, my mind was blown. I immediately had the sense of inspiration and the feeling of "I know what I need to do". This test is one of the best ones I have ever taken. Its a 144 question test so if you do take it, answer it honestly and don't over think it. Typically, the one that catches your eye is the one that you should select, so be honest as possible.

One of the reasons why I have been attending more conferences and investing in coaching and mentoring is because almost every business-related podcast that I listened to has their own conference or recommends attending conferences and/or mentoring programs. From what I took away from the things I learned from these hidden gems is that investing in oneself is far more valuable than sitting at home day dreaming. It motivated me to take action in the things that I dream of doing or thought of doing. I often find myself nervous or scared to do so, because I feel there is lack of a "need" to do so. I was wrong. I was very wrong. I have leveled-up in my development as a business owner and a person by investing in my self.

These conferences I have been attending and the mentoring that I have been having has given me to do something that I thought I would never do. Now, what I am about to tell you of what I did may seem so small to some, but it is a huge step for me. I went live on Instagram for the very first time. What does going "Live" mean? It means I did a live video on my Instagram profile so people can come and join/watch me on a live video feed. I am really shy and I have spent a good portion of my life hidden behind recordings where I can take the perfect one and publish the best one that I like. Going Live meant I would make mistakes and every one would see it. There is no going back from that. So this was a big deal for me.

Going live led me to making another connection with another business in my same area and it turns out we are now friends. I actually went and visited this business Knockout Nutrition and made a new friend, in person. We actually have many things in common. If I never would have went live, I never would have the opportunity to meet new like-minded people.

I will close with this. Never be afraid to invest in yourself. It will lead to new beginnings and new adventures as you explore this world. There are many ways to gain information to help you level-up. These hidden gems are out there, you just need to find it and once you do, you can apply the things learned in your everyday life. Hidden Gems.
